The Waiting Room
“But those who wait on the Lord
Shall renew their strength;
They shall mount up with wings like eagles,
They shall run and not be weary,
They shall walk and not faint.”
– Isaiah 40:31
Clarity comes from the right perspective. The wrong lenses will make your vision blurry and your vision is not only going to determine what we see, but also the way in which we see things.
The right focus helps the way in which we interpret our lives - The way that we view people, our relationship with God, and all things in life.
Paul prays in Ephesians 1 that the eyes of our hearts can be enlightened. In other words, we perceive with our eyes, but we really see with the heart.
Life happens sometimes, right? The rise of unexpected and unwanted scenarios is where we get tested. The faster we realize we’re being tested, the easier it becomes to recognize it’s an “open book” test. The Word of God is right there to help us.
Some situations – tests – are truly scary. There are those in which you feel frustration, emotional drainage, and it just looks like there’s no going forward. It makes you feel stuck. Have you taken those tests? My husband and I have experienced quite some unexpected news this year.
The response we’ve had in our hearts is: “Just wait.”
In the middle of the waiting, lies the greatest battleground for our perspective.
Anytime we allow fear to put us in the corner, we are missing out. When fear is dictating our journey, we will never end up where God wants us to be. So it’s very important to identify those thoughts and remove them.
We have learned that waiting actually makes us stronger. Strength is actually the purpose in the wait, and strength determines how easy something is.
Sometimes we don’t need our situations to change, we just need our strength level to be greater. We need to wait.
In the wait, you’re actually making progress - “They shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint”
He renews us. We’re not at a stop sign. We’re not stuck.
Jesus is always enough. His grace is enough for us and when we understand that, it changes every situation. When we change our focus to Him, we change ourselves. It changes us because we have what we need. No longer are we lacking. We are filled with the One who fills everything - everywhere.
Even in the wait, we are running forward, we continue to follow His purpose for our lives. The right perspective is all we need.
Next time you find yourself in the waiting room, remember to take the test with a smile on your face. We win!
